Spain’s new startup law and digital nomad visa

Spain's new startup law
This could be the view from your ‘office’ in Spain

On the 22 December 2022 the Spanish government passed an important new law with the aim of attracting international talent and foreign capital to the country. It’s called ‘La ley Startup’ in Spanish or the Startup Law in English, and, as the name suggests, it’s main focus is to attract startup companies to Spain by offering attractive tax incentives and streamlined bureaucratic processes.

However, the most attractive aspect of this new law for many people relates to a new visa for digital nomads.

This type of visa is long overdue in Spain and it will make it a lot easier for digital professionals from outside the EU to work in Spain.

There are some conditions attached to the new visa. For example, you will have to prove minimum monthly income requirements and if you work for a company remotely, it can’t be based in Spain.

More details on this new visa will be known shortly and I will update this page when I find out more about it.

Read about the new law here in English or download the PDF below.
