The majority of the autonomous communities in Spain have asked the Health Ministry to require a negative test prior to departure, in addition to the Covid vaccination certificate, for people travelling to Spain from China.
This is because many have stated that the vaccines administered in China do not have the same effectiveness as those administered in other countries, specifically in Europe and Spain. Thus, they claim that a negative result before embarkation eliminates the possibility of transmission.
In these meetings, the Health Ministry has also stated that, like Italy, it will organise tests for citizens coming from China at airports in Spain with direct flights from Chinese cities. It is still unknown how and when this control protocol will be organised.
The Community of Madrid director of Public Health, Elena Andradas, has stated that an update of the Covid-19 action protocols should be prepared in case the stable heath situation in Spain changes in the coming weeks.
