The Spanish government has still not clarified whether it will extend the 20 cents per litre of fuel aid, which comes to an end on 31 December. The Minister for Territorial Policy and government spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez, has assured that the government is still analysing the measures to be included in the extension of the economic response plan to the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine, without clarifying whether the aid that has been applied to fuel since April will be maintained.
Asked at a press conference following the Ministers’ meeting, Rodríguez called for “calm” and assured that the Government “will continue to work” to cushion the impact of inflation on families, highlighting the November figure, in which Spain is the Eurozone economy with the lowest year-on-year CPI.
“Even those who voted against it know that the measures the government has taken to reduce inflation have been useful and extremely positive. I cannot specify the measures, but I guarantee you a shield of social protection for families”, said the minister spokesperson.
